Investment 101

I love it when people talk about their visions and goals. I think I get so excited that I overwhelm others. In a conversation with my husband I asked him if I overstep sometimes and he said that most people do not understand that my excitement is genuine. Seeing someone put their plan into motion just sets me off like fireworks. I become like my little dog Chico who barks at everything that moves. His excitement sometimes gets annoying, but he has good intentions.

I have a just do it mentality and Jeronimo is my slogan. You will often hear me say “go for it and worry about everything later.” Or “If you do not invest in you who will.” In some cultures, it is normal to hear that there is a plethora of doctors, engineers, lawyers etc. But, in the Black community you find that thought to be rare…..I want to change that narrative.

The moment I hear that someone is moving to do something great I become Chico…Do it do it do it!!! I know that my cousin get annoyed with me when I brag that she is a scientist and just super smart and when my girlfriend and aunt cringe when I tell everyone that they are doctors. I am privileged to know these women and I feel crazy stupid in some conversations. This may come to a surprise to others but to me it is amazing. It is cool that another cousin just finished her Doctorate degree and now I have one more person to brag about. YESSSSSSSSSSS (in my Chico excitement)

We tend to say that our biggest investments are our homes. But you are your most valuable asset! Just like your home you must spruce it up at times, make repairs, some of this and some of that. Remember when you got those keys and you first walked into that home. Now think about that feeling when you invest in you, it is worth it😊
