Remember the time?

Is there a song that you hear and instantly it takes you back to a moment in time? OR does a particular song leave you daydreaming? Music is the soundtrack to our lives, and triggers emotions that make you smile, laugh, cry etc. But do you often wonder if you could have been in the room when the song was originated. For me that song is “I Got A Story To Tell” by the Notorious BIG. Every time I hear this song it stops me in my track, and it is as if I am in a trance.

Listening to Big talking to his friends at the end of the record remind me of my cousins, uncles and grandfather laughing in the basement during family gatherings. I am mesmerized by these stories because they taught me how to listen and enjoy the moment. While some of these stories were exaggerated I loved being in the room.

I can go on forever about my musical daydreams but I love seeing my grandmother in my dreams when the song “Before I Let Go” comes on the radio or when I hear “Rock With You” and I think about the summers at my aunt’s house.
