What is behind the wall?

Updated: Dec 29, 2020

I am having my bathroom renovated and it is funny what you find behind the walls. Earlier this year I noticed mold in the bathroom. I made a call to my uncle and asked for his opinion and he indicated that the mold must be in the insulation. Prior to the renovation, we tried using various methods such as using a paint claiming to kill mold, wiping it down with bleach and installing a new fan. None of it worked. It became frustrating and I wanted it professionally corrected.

Once the walls came down the mold could no longer hide, and it was exposed. The contractors were successful at finding and removing it all. We had to replace the insulation and a few beams, but it was not as bad as I thought.

Of course, I must relate this to life! We can cover up our issues with anything but when we tear down the walls, we expose the real issues. It is easy to put a bandaid on, cover it up with stuff or avoid the issues all together. But that can allow those issues to simmer and eventually spread.

Initially you may see the mold spots as cosmetic however that first sight of mold can be the indication of something deeper. Try catching those issues early because once it spreads it may not be as easy to contain.
